Horse Race

Lately Monday nights are family movie night. I'll usually make kettle corn and we'll watch a kid movie, this week we watched Secretariat. It was a great movie but the girls were not that into it, I think if there was more of the horse Emma would have stuck with it. Ella, well almost no movie can keep her attention.
All that to say today I found the girls pretending that their horses were racing. They lined the horses up on the toy box while they sat on the bed and cheered for the horses. It was really cute to watch. Secretariat is the big brown one and he won every time.

Ruby is a roller! She does well on her tummy, at least for a little while. But on January 28 she would not stay on her tummy, every time I laid her down she rolled to her back. I tried laying her different each time but she rolled no matter what, and the girls thought it was hilarious. She make it look so intense.

Yesterday we got together with some friends to play softball, I actually just hung out and Coy played. But it was fun, the highlight for me was when I looked over and saw Ella
CLIMBING the fence! She is crazy, and so ambitious, she didn't get much higher then what you see in the picture but I think it is still very impressive.

Story Time

On Tuesday we went to our local library for story time. It was lots of
fun, the stories the lady read were all about food. I think Emma and
Zachary enjoyed it but mostly they were distracted by the other kids,
I think the more we go the more they will understand what's going on.
After the story they had several different stations set up with
snacks. You could make spiders out of cream cheese, ritz crackers,
pretzel sticks, and raisins, or silly faces, and even a lady bug using
pink cream cheese and chocolate chips. I think that is what the kids
enjoyed the most, even Ella was able to join in on that.

I found Ella in her room rearanging clothes, she was putting Emma's
pjs in her pants drawer. This actually is a step up because typically
she just pulls all the clothes out as fast as she can.

With my big sister

Ella loves her big sister she follows her around the house always
wanting to be near her. Most of the time they play well together and
Emma is really sweet with her.
Ella climbed up on the chair all by herself so she could enjoy her
sippy with Emma.
The thing that scares about this is that I have 2 kids that like to
climb!

What is Happening?!

While doing my hair today I noticed a hair that did not belong with
the rest. It was a very bold white hair! Already!! Is this supposed to
be happening, for a moment my whole life flashed before my eyes, then
I realized it's not the worst thing that can happen so I relaxed a
little. What do I do? Color my hair over one white one, do you pluck
it or does that cause them to multiply? I guess I could do nothing and
maybe I will look more distinguished.

I really do! I am do blessed to have two amazing daughters, they make
me laugh everyday. Emma is so smart and has such a big imagination,
and I love how caring she is. Ella is a bundle of joy, she is silly
and so determined in everything she does. They are so amazing and I
just wanted everyone to know.

Story Teller

Lately Emma has been telling stories. Todays story was about a deer
that flew over the town with it's wings. I missed the rest of the
story but I think it was pretty action packed. She has such a big
imagination!

Fresh Baked Pie

As always Coy had a great idea, bake a cherry pie! So I did, well
actually Elisha and I did. I have made pie before but never pie crust, I have always been so intimidated by pie crust because you can easily mess it up. but we did it! and it came out pretty darn good, aside from that it was beautiful!

Always set a Timer

In all my years of baking I rarely use a timer, it is almost a
tradition for me to forget about the last batch of cookies until I
smell them burning. In our (almost) 4 years of marriage Coy has tried
to retrain me, but failed apparently. I was using a timer for awhile
but have stopped, maybe I will start again.

I wanted to say happy fathers day to all you dads out there.

I was thinking this morning how much I love being a dad.

I'm so blessed to have two wonderful daughters.

They astound and humble me everyday and

are moment by moment reminders of God's grace towards me.

I was also thinking how much I love my dad.

In a world where so many families have absent or uninvolved fathers

my dad was alway there. So much of what I have learned in life

I learned from him. He is a wonderful role model for me, even to this day.

I have a high standard to live up to as a father. The supreme example of

my Heavenly Father and life of sacrifice of my earthly father... big shoes indeed.

I was also thinking that, I don't tell him how much I appreciate him, enough.

So Happy Fathers Day Dad! I love you very much.

Odd Couple

Emma and Zachary are great friends, they balance each other out well.
Emma is more of a free spirit, she is loud and doesn't stop moving.
Zacahry is quiet, and will sit and play with one toy for 30 minutes
and be content. As you can see from the picture Emma's desire is to
climb the fence when Zach is ok with just shaking it.

A Dog Named Grace

The neighbors have a dog named Grace, she is a sweet, well mannered
golden retriever. Emma loves when Grace is outside, she will sit with
her and feed her grass, or run back and forth along the fence while
grace does the same. It's like we have a dog but without all the
responsability, it's great. For awhile Emma would tell people she had
a dog named Grace and now finaly I think she realizes she is not her
dog, but she still loves her and enjoys playing with her through the
chain link fence.

Coy wanted to make cookie the other night but we ran out of flour, he
was so disappointed and so was I. But I didn't want to bug the
neighbor so I got creative. I thought what else do we have.....cake
mix! Yes but no frosting...boo! Well then I got even more creative and
googled "other uses for cake mix". I found exactly what I wanted, a
cookie recipe....yay! The recipe was so simple I have it memorized
( cake mix, 1 stick butter, 1 egg, and 2 tblsp of water if using
chocolate cake mix) I also added chocolate chips.
As I baked these cookies I told Coy "these would work great for ice
cream sandwhiches," he immediatly got up and went to the store to get
ice cream. I was right they were amazing!
I am so excited about this new recipe, I wanted to keep it a secret
and just make them for people but not tell them how, but it's so
amazing I must tell everyone!

More babies!

No I don't mean Coy and I, but Emma's fish. Apparently her mickey
mouse platy is a boy and dalmation fish is a girl, and they love
eachother. Let me tell you the story....
A few days back Manna (girl fish) started acting weird, her tail would
float up like she had no control of it and she would spin in circles.
I thought she must be dying, and a few times I thought she was dead.
She would be completely still with her tail up completely vertical.
This went on for 3 days.
Well today she seemed to be swimming normal she just seemed weak. Emma
and I were looking at her when I noticed a few tiny little fish
swimming around, I freaked out and then realized why Manna seemed to
be dying, she had been in labor. So we have 9 new fish making a total
of 11. Apparently the mommy and daddy fish will eat the babies so they
are currently in a seperate tank, all I have to say is I did not sign
up for this....
You can barely see the baby fish but there are 2 in this picture, they
are the orange dots in the center.

On days that we're busy and Emma doesn't get a nap she has quiet
reading time instead, she still has down time and I can still do the
things I need to do. Well today I guess she was a little more tired
than normal, because this is the way I found her.

Off To A Good Start

I'm so thankful that we get to raise our children up in a Godly home,
that from a young age they can know Christ. I love when Emma walks
around the house singing worship songs, or when she reminds me that
"Jesus died on the cross and came back to life". The other day I was
studying outside while Emma played, and on her own she decided she was
going to read her Bible, and journal. These are such precious moments
and I hope she continues seeking the Lord as she gets older. Her 2
favorite Bible stories are Noah's Ark and the story of Jacob and Esau.

Another Climber

Ella is about 8 1/2 months now and she has been crawling around for
awhile now. Just a few weeks ago she started walking along furniture
and now climbing. Yes she has discovered the step stool next to Emma's
bed, she still doesn't understand that you can't just walk off the
stool without falling but she will figure it out.

The other night we celebrated Tori's birthday at Carrie and Elisha's,
even though neither of them have kiddos it's still a fun places for
the kids. That's because Carrie is awesome and has fun toys (Elisha
you know I think you're awesome too). You can't tell by the picture
but it is very noisy, they are all playing instruments and singing
worship songs really loud. Songs like "one way Jesus, you're the only
1, 2, 3, 4" Emma's version. Or "Jesus you're my super hero better than
spiderman, better than Alaina" Alivia's version. Yes Carrie is great
with the kids and we live her for it.

Growing up so fast

Ella has been just like Emma in that she started crawling pretty
early. Ella loves to explore where ever she can, and she is getting
fast. But today she shocked me when she saw something she wanted on
the chair and she pulled herself up, it didn't last long but I was
still very impressed. What a very determined little girl. She is
actually about to fall in this picture but don't worry I caught her.

Dress up

Emma and I played dress up today, she did our make up, and I did her
hair. Then she put on her princess clothes and looked so adorable. I
was going to post the pictures of me with my make up done but I just

I must start this out by first saying Coy is a very loving and
involved dad and a great husband and he works very hard for us. But he
has his moments, like when I was out the other night and he put the
girls to bed. He told me he was putting on Emmas PJ's when he realized
the shirt was to small because it was Ella's, but instead of finding
Emma's Pj's he figured let's see of the pants fit, and according to
him they did. If you don't know Emma is 2yrs and Ella is 6 1/2 months.

In the dark

Emma's new favorite thing is to be completely under covers whether
it's on one of the beds or walking around with a blanket on her head.
She calls it being in the dark. She sat on our chair and had me cover
her up about 10 minutes ago and she is still sitting there in complete
silence and has moved much. I can't think of the last time she sat
still and didn't talk for even 1 minute. I peaked at her to see if she
was still awake and she is. I guess her and Goofy are just hanging out.

Frankie bought Emma two little fish the other day, we figure fish are
low maintinence and cheap enough for us to own right now so we allowed
it. . Emma named the fish "Donald" and "Daisy", although I was told
both fish are male. She likes to scare them by getting really close to
the tank and then yelling FISHIES!! Hopefully they don't die of shock.
My fears are that one day I will find the fish and a large puddle on
the carpet, or I will find things in the tank that don't belong, I
guess we will see.

Craft time

As Emma gets older there are more and more fun things that we can do
together, like play with play dough. I made the snake just in case you were wondering, and Emma's is the scary one that looks like it could hurt you. I think is some new species of snail that is deadly.

We were hanging out at the Guidos the other night, Zachary and Emma
were both up past bed time and were very hyper. They were screaming
and wrestling on the couch, Emma fell off several times on purpose and
they both were very funny. See it's ok that Zachary is mostly around
girls because Emma is tuff enough to wrestle with him and still girly
enough to have tea parties with Alivia.

Last night in the nursery Zachary was chasing Emma around while riding
a toy car. This is something that happens often with them, Zachary
loves riding cars and Emma loves running and screaming so it works out
well for them. She was using the trash can as a sheild so he couldn't
get her, they are so cute together.

Wow, Ella is six months old today, I can't believe half a year has gone by. She is the age Emma was when we moved to Montana, crazy. Ella is such a great little girl, she is always happy, if she's not smiling she is looking really confused, its funny. She is so ambitious, not crawling yet but rolls everywhere, she is usually content as long as you're in the room with her. I love her big blue bug eyes and her toothless smile that she gets when you talk to her. It is so great to see her little personality, she is just such a joy and we are so blessed to have this great little girl. I look forward to see how God will use her joy and all her ambition to bless others as she get older. Happy Halfers Ella!

That's the word on the street at least, and for those of you that
don't know about 96 it was bad. Coy called from Starbucks this morning
and said that it was crazy outside so I figured I'd take a look. I
honestly didn't expect to see as much snow as I did, I had to shovel
myself out of the house just to get to the driveway. There was no way
Coy was even going to make it in to the driveway so I shoveled just
enough so that he could pull in off the road then later did the rest
of the driveway. I felt like such a Montananin with my snow boots on
just shoveling away, we got at least two feet of snow with 4 foot
drifts.

If you don't already know this about Emma she loves mickey mouse club
house, her favorite is Goofy. Well while in Albuquerque or Burque as
some would call it, we had to visit the Disney store. You would have
thought we were in Disney Land by how excited she was, she was
grabbing any stuffed animal she could and talking to them. She saw a
Sulley that was as big as her and she tackled him and rolled around
laughing and yelling "Sulley" (who she now owns, thanks Jason and
Kristen). Of course being with grandparents she didn't leave empty
handed but she got Daisy doll, then only needing Donald and Pluto to
complete the crew, which she got for her birthday. Spoiled.

Shopko was having a huge furniture sale, so we all went to check it

Emma is two today, these past two years have gone by so fast and have been so fun, she is so hilarious and sweet. Even though sometimes she talks back and even pretends like she can't hear you at all. Today I was asking her to put something away and she wouldn't, I asked her if she needed to go to time out and her response was "yes". So I told her to go to time out, she looked at me and clearly said "no I don't want to go to time out". But then she can be so sweet and adorable like tonight. Coy and I put Emma to bed and pray every evening, tonight before Coy could pray she started to all on her own, "God thank you for food, bless our bodies, amen". She did a good job she was just a little confused on the situation. Emma has been such a blessing these past two years and we can't wait to see how God will use her in the years to come. Yay!!!! Ella!!!! She rolled over for the first time this morning! Just
like with Emma I barely missed it, I stepped into the kitchen to put
the teapot on and when I returned Ella was on her belly. I rolled her
over to see if she would do it again but of course when I went to the
other room and returned she was on her stomach again. Finally the
third time I got to see it. Emma being the the supportive big sister
she is lay next to Ella and told her good job. She is getting so big,
she is 4 months now, such a happy girl and such a joy to have around.

We Tried it Again

The other night Emma requested to sleep in our bed, she is so cute and sometimes we just can't say no, so we thought we would give it a try. We layed her down and then we went to bed later. When we got in to bed it woke her up a little bit and as she held Goofy she said, "sleep with mommy and daddy, so cozy" and then fell back to sleep. It seemed as though she was going to actually sleep and not play and she did, that is until about 2 am. For whatever reason she woke up and was playing with Goofy, Mickey, and Minnie, along with kicking me. This of course did not wake up Coy, but he did wake up when I had him take her to her bed where she slept the rest of the night.

Just Talking

Some of the best moments we have with Emma are just sitting at home talking. She is so smart and funny, you will see as we have her demonstrate this in the video. She makes me laugh all day, she shows me areas that I need to grow in and she doesn't even know it. I love seeing her grow and watching her little personality grow and mature. We are blessed with two great girls. The video is kind of long but I didn't get bored so hopefully you won't either.

Change is Good!

So somebody from the church came and cleaned our carpets for us (such a blessing) and they look great. Emma was a little freaked out by it, she refused to walk on the carpet while it was wet. She would forget every once in awhile and walk on to the carpet and then jump up and down and cry "its wet, its wet". Since all the furniture was out of place I took advantage of the opportunity to change things up, and am I glad I did. The living room feels bigger and it just looks better, I guess watching hours and hours of HGTV has payed off.

Yummy Dinner

Awhile back Coy had the great idea of baking a chicken pot pie in the
cast iron skillet and then baking it with biscuits as the crust, so
tonight I did it. It was so easy and super delicious, I suggest
everyone tries it. With Coys great ideas and my amazing exacution
skills we are unstopable.

Excercising our Right

I get so nervous when I vote, I feel like I'm taking a test that I
will be graded after, and at the sametime I am proud to be able to
vote, it makes me feel so responsible and American. We live in such a
small town, that when Coy and I went to vote we ran into the Luskos,
Eric, and Carrie and none of us planned it. Although the true
testament that we live in a small town is that we voted using paper
and not computers. After voting we enjoyed the nice courthouse
grounds. Coy is gaurding Ella she is kind of a big deal (that was for
you Carrie), while Carrie talks to Lenya, she's also a big deal, the
girls are running around, as Eric takes a photo of Levi next to the
ten commandments.

They call themselves two brunettes and a blonde, but you probably know
them as Alivia, Elisha, and Emma. Well they played live in the Active
room tonight after service, and they were great, Alivia can really hit
those high notes, Emma can really hit the drums hard, and Elisha
actually knows what she's doing. Later Emma and Liv took turns singing
and it was so adorable. Best show of the year.

Emma loves cereal and I'm pretty sure that if I fed her cereal for every meal that she would eat it everytime. Like everyday, today she went to the cupboard pulled out the cereal and requested some, Coy apparently had told her no and to put it away, I at this time was oblivious to all except to the laundry. That is until I heard a strange noise, all she wanted was cereal and we wouldn't let her have it so she decided to get it herself. And this is the result, Fruity Pebbles all over the coffee table.

Emma no longer has to pretend to play with Goofy because last week Grandma and papa brought her the real deal. She carries him around everywhere he even had dinner with us tonight. She made sure he had his own seat, plate with food, napkin, and even a place mat like she has, only his place mat was a coupon that she found. We even had to hold his hands while we prayed, of course Goofy didn't eat his cheese so Emma did but she replaced it with a potato and then of course ate that as well. She asked where Goofy's car was and then told me it was on the moon, and then later had Coy go get Goofy's blanket and put it on him while he ate, he is very high maintenance.

So Emma and I went to a birthday party today for a friend of hers from church, she had fun but things got really exciting when the neighbors came by on their horses. Emma asked to ride the horse but was scared at first and once she got up there she loved it. She has been wanting to ride a horse for awhile now so I was glad she had a chance and that she enjoyed it, even though I was terrified because horses are pretty but scary and their heads and butts are huge and I don't like that.

More toddler craziness

So when I put Emma down for her nap she was wearing this shirt her
pants and Dora slippers. But when she woke up and ran out of her room
happy and cheery she was wearing her purple skirt inside out. Who
knows how long she was awake and what she was up to. Last night after
she dissed the Rays baseball players face, she continued to make us
laugh. She later ran and sat next to Coy grabbed my phone and said
"there you go Coy" we laughed of course and she liked that so she
Continued to call him Coy and began to sing "Coy Coy Coy Coy life is
but a dream". She is ridiculous and I love her.

Something glorious happened in our kitchen this past week. We had Dion's pizza, for any of you that have never been to or lived in New Mexico you are thinking, so what. But those of you that have experienced Dion's know how awesome this is. How could this be when Dion's is 1200 miles away? Well, my parents came to visit and much to my surprise brought pizza kits. Apparently Dion's will give you all their great pizza making ingredients the dough, sauce cheese and peperoni, everything is all measured out you just put it all together. It was so great they even brought us bottles of Dion's greek and ranch which are also amazing. Thanks mom and dad!

Ok maybe I shouldn't be letting people know this but it was so funny I
can't help it.
Coy is watching baseball, and every once I a while Emma will say
something like "wow" or "go Red Sox". these are all normal things. But
not what she said this last time, she casually looked up at the tv and
said "oh my gosh disgusting" so Coy said "what's disgusting", "his
face is disgusting", says Emma. We were so shocked and wanted to
laugh, and we did when she wasn't looking but quickly let her know
that, that's not nice and we don't say things like that. Now the
disclaimer: Coy and I have never said that about anyone.

It has been such a joy to serve the great students of Fresh Life
Church. The past year and a half has had its ups and downs in the
student ministries, but these students have made it so much fun. I'm
looking forward to see what God will do on our midst!

The other night the wife and I went out to a local resturant for
dessert and coffee. It was a great time as we shared one of our
favorites, creme brûlée. It was so nice to enjoy an evening with no
kids (as fun as they are). Horray for date nights!!!

Goofy is on the moon

I love watching Emma's imagination grow (not literally), she is starting to act things out and talk to her toys. Earlier she put Minnie down for a nap in her room, then later asked Mickey if he needed his jacket. Currently Emma is walking around the house with Mickey and Minnie looking for Goofy ( she doesn't have a Goofy toy) . She keeps asking if we can go to the moon to get Goofy because that's where he is, according to one of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse shows. She keeps saying "where'd Goofy go? Fly to the moon?" Then she knocks on the door and says " come in Goofy".
Frankie took her outside to look for the moon but they couldn't find it, so we will have to go to the moon another night.

Dr. Trammel

Ella is getting prepped for shots by her Doctor while Dr. Trammel makes sure daddy's ears are ok.

Ella got her shots, now Dr. Trammel tests out her skills on her little sister. Everyone is happy and healthy.

I have this problem lately, I don't go to bed when I should. Instead I stay up really late and talk to Elisha Guido, usually on Facebook but tonight in the flesh. Everyone was over earlier but she never left. She is lots of fun and brings out my crazy side. I should go to bed but we are watching food network, she is teaching me the ways of Facebook and were taking random pictures. Anyways I just thought some of you should know about her. Having two kids he been rough, and I've been having a hard time
keeping up with the house work, so I hired Zachary Guido. He is
limited to where he can go on his car but he is very thorough.

Monk Monk

Coy has a sock monkey named Monk Monk that he has had since he was a
little boy ( no he doesn't still sleep with it) a while back Emma
found Monk Monk and loved him but wasn't allowed to play with him
because he is falling apart. We found a monk monk at Target and had to
get it for her. My grandma heard how much she loved sock monkeys so
she sent one for Emma and Ella, and yesterday I saw these monk monk
pjs and had to get them for her even though they are boy pjs.

Learning to coo

Ella is 2 months old today, she is such a good little baby. Emma is in
bed so Coy and I are spending some quality time with Ella since when
her sister is awake she is usually in her face when we try and talk to
Ella. Emma really loves her but can be a little overwhelming, she is
always so excited to see her and calls her "sister Ella".
Anyways were talking to Ella and she is starting to talk back, I love
baby coos.

I'd like to think I'm a pretty good cook, now of course I've had those
meals that just didn't turn out as planned but are still edable. I can
say I have definately grown in my cooking skills since Coy and I have
been married. But In our 3 years of marriage I have never failed at
dinner so miserably before tonight.
First we were going to have fajitas but I realized I didn't have all
that I needed, I rememberedi had some ground beef in the freezer so we
down graded to tacos. I started preparing early so that dinner would
be ready as soon as Coy got home I had the meat out defrosting, grated
the cheese, warmed the beans, and began baking my shells. Coy got home
close to 7 and dinner wasn't ready (I blame the kids) but all I had to
do was cook the meat and bake the rest of the taco shells. With in
seconds of putting the meat in the pan I realized it did not smell
right. It was rotten. Just then Emma needed my immediate attention,
and when I returned my shells were burnt. With much frustration in my
voice I exclaimed "dinner is ruined". Coy being the loving husband he
is offered Taco Bell for dinner and I accepted.

A Beautiful Sight

That's right fresh green chili straight from New Mexico roasting in my
oven. Coy's family was just in town and they brought us a 30 lb bag, a
little excesive? Not at all it should hopefully last until next
season. You may be thinking big deal we have Mexican food here in
Montana, first of all ya right and second you can only get this chili
in NM. I miss only a few things since we left NM and that's family,
friends, and New Mexican food, which green chili is a big part of.
